About Me

Hello and welcome to my ePortfolio!

My name is Sayyeda Ali, I am a foreign trained family physician from Karachi, Pakistan, affiliated with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC). I immigrated to Canada some time back, currently trying to assimilate in the Canadian healthcare system. I am working on a Master of Health Studies through Athabasca University.

I’ve always had a profound interest in medicine, which initially led me to pursue a health sciences degree. I have developed my professional identity in line with the CanMEDS framework. I feel like a physician’s role is not limited to providing just medical care, I identify as a healthcare advocate, a confidant, an advisor, someone that my patients can turn to not just for their physical health needs, but also for emotional and mental health needs.

In my professional experience I have had the opportunity to work in a tertiary care hospital which provides healthcare to huge metropolitan city of Karachi, and its surrounding areas. Through this portfolio I hope to have a platform to project my thoughts and ideas, and to work on issues that I feel strongly about, I also expect this to be a place to house my personal as well as professional growth over time.

My personal belief and value that was my drive to enter this profession is now my main professional value, and is based on the “saving one life is as if saving all of humanity”, compassion for my patients in particular, and for all of humanity in general.

Apart from my professional life, I am a mom of twins, I enjoy cooking, hiking, and whatever downtime I have I try to spend it with my family. I like to continuously keep working on myself and trying out new things.

Join me on my journey!
